Dr. Mohammad Al-Ubaydli, CEO
Mohammad is founder of Patients Know Best and has over 15 years of experience in medical software. He trained as a physician at the University of Cambridge; worked as a staff scientist at the National Institutes of Health; and was a management consultant to US hospitals at The Advisory Board Company. He is the author of six books, including Handheld Computers for Doctors and Streamlining Hospital-Patient Communication: Developing High Impact Patient Portals.

Dr. Richard Smith, Chairman
Dr. Richard Smith is director of the Ovations initiative run by world-leading health care organization UnitedHealthcare. Its mission is to combat chronic disease in the developing world. The initiative funds centres in China, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Tunisia, Tanzania, South Africa, Central America, and the US Mexico border.
A member of the board of the Public Library of Science, he is also an honorary professor at the University of Warwick, a member of the governing council of St George’s, University of London, and editor of Cases Journal, a new electronic journal that aims to publish tens of thousands of case reports a year. Previously he was chief executive of UnitedHealth Europe, a subsidiary of the UnitedHealth Group that works with public health systems in Europe.
Before that he was editor of the British Medical Journal and chief executive of the BMJ Publishing Group. Having qualified in medicine in Edinburgh, he worked in hospital in Scotland and New Zealand before joining the BMJ. He also worked for six years as a television doctor with the BBC and TV-AM and has a degree in management science from the Stanford Business School. He loves making soup, marmalade, and trouble.
Ian Bastow, Non-executive Director
Ian holds an MBA with Distinction from London Business School and is a Chartered Management Accountant. Ian was formerly CFO of Qatar-based information technology services and solutions provider MEEZA, and before that CFO of oil & gas exploration services start-up ARKeX, where he raised GBP26m of venture funds. Prior to this he was Finance Director of Parc Technologies, a VC-funded telecoms software start-up that was sold to Cisco Systems in August 2004.

- Dr. David Rearick, DO, MBA, CPE, is an expert on wellness systems and author of the book Good Health is Good Business-an Implementation Guide for Corporate Wellness. Before that he served as Southeast medical director for Aetna.
- Esther Dyson is a long-time catalyst of start-ups in information technology in the US and other markets, including Russia. She is a director of 23andMe, a consumer genetics company. Her IT investments have included Flickr, del.icio.us, Medstory, Meetup Inc., Eventful.com, Boxbe and Voxiva; she sits on the boards of the latter four companies. She is also an active investor in air and space, with holdings in Space Adventures and Zero-G Corporation, as well as XCOR Aerospace, Constellation Services International, Coastal Technologies Group, Dopplr.com, Airship Ventures and Icon Aircraft.
- Dr. Rachel Stancliffe, the Director of The Campaign for Greener Healthcare, graduated from Oxford with a Human Sciences degree and then received a Master’s degree in demography and epidemiology from the London School of Economics. She worked in public health initiatives in the UK, Georgia and Kazakhstan before helping to develop The Cochrane Library during the first decade of its life. She is also a Director of the charity, Global Healthcare Information Network.
- Robert Navarro wrote the data privacy section for British Telecom's winning bid for the £650m English NHS SPINE/SUS project and then led the successful bid for a 9 year pseudonymisation contract to ensure the privacy of that centralised Health data.
