Patients Know Best selected for DigitalHealth.London’s flagship accelerator
This week (10th November), it was announced that Patients Know Best (PKB) had been selected to take part in DigitalHealth.London’s flagship accelerator programme, poised to meet London’s NHS and social care challenges.
Ready to meet London's NHS and social care challenges
20 companies with the highest potential to meet the future challenges of the NHS have been selected for the DigitalHealth.London programme which has now been running for five consecutive years. The programme has supported a number of successful digital innovations that are now used in the NHS. This year saw an increase in the number and average score of the applications, making it the most competitive selection process since the programme began four years ago.
Jenny Thomas, Programme Director at DigitalHealth.London, said: “This year has been a defining moment for digital health as it has been at the forefront of the Covid-19 response and will continue to be part of our country’s recovery in the months and years ahead.
“These 20 SMEs are all ones to watch and we look forward to working with them and playing our part in supporting the NHS and social care through digital transformation.”
The London Digital Accelerator Programme will significantly help Patients Know Best to expand our programme of work across London where we are already working with the North West London STP to power the Care Information Exchange which enables 2.4 million citizens to have access to their health and care information.
Patients Know Best is also working in partnership with City and Hackney Clinical Commissioning Group which is the first mental health organisation to empower service users across North East London STP with access and control of their health records. Here, the team will use PKB as its dedicated recovery tool to support people with severe mental illness, with the intention of preventing them reaching the stage of crisis. As such, it is also set to become the only NHS organisation truly leading integrated care as data is exchanged across primary, secondary (East London NHS Foundation Trust), mental and social care, as well as local voluntary care organisations (The Advocacy Project and The Core Arts and Sports Programme).
Tara Donnelly, Chief Digital Officer at NHSX, said: “The DigitalHealth.London Accelerator is part of a digital revolution in the NHS that continues rapidly to develop, and we will continue to support innovative organisations delivering ground-breaking work.
“This programme has established itself as an important player in supporting the NHS and social care to make the most of the opportunities digital healthtech offers.”
The London Digital Accelerator Programme’s dedicated support network will help Patients Know Best and our customers in London to go further, faster, in the mission to empower patients to manage their health, with access and control of their consolidated personal health information.
Dr Mohammad Al-Ubaydli, CEO and Founder of Patients Know Best, added: “We have developed a unique model where patient empowerment is at the heart and centre of everything we do. This programme offers the opportunity for us to learn how we can help customers in a way that we may not have done before and in doing so, expand our outreach of support for our customers in London. We’re delighted to be selected for the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator 2020-21 cohort and eager to get started!”
The Patients Know Best cloud-based personal health records platform unifies patient data from health and social care providers along with the patient’s own data, into one secure patient-controlled and owned health record. This means patients can carry their health information with them wherever they are, and share this with anyone they need.
In 2020, PKB became one of the first products to integrate with NHS login’s new encrypted single sign-on and the first personal health record to integrate with the NHS App. This is an extension of the application which gives patients all their PKB data, features and functionality, inside the national NHS App interface.
