Patients Know Best are delighted to announce that we are one of three companies selected by the Propel@YH Net Zero Sustainable Health Accelerator pilot programme. Propel@YH Net Zero is Yorkshire & Humber AHSN’s new sustainable health accelerator pilot programme for SMEs who have new innovations that can support the NHS’ drive towards ‘net zero’ for the benefit of the West Yorkshire and Harrogate region.
Patients Know Best supports the movement to net zero in a number of ways:
- Remote interactions/consultations – reducing unnecessary travel
- Reduction in paper through digital letters that can be logged as read and avoid print and postage
- Supporting self-management and self-care – enabling care to be preventative rather than reactive
Patients Know Best have worked previously with the Yorkshire and Humber AHSN alongside the Sustainable Healthcare Coalition to quantify benefits and carbon reductions realised by organisations utilising PKB across the NHS, more information can be found here. These resulted in the following findings from four departments:
As a certified B Corporation, Patients Know Best is committed to leading innovation in health-tech with a clear social purpose. Sustainability is at the heart of our ambitions because we believe that by using PKB as a force for social good, we can have a positive and lasting impact on our employees, community, customers and the environment.
Patients Know Best will now be able to access a structured course of bespoke support and advice around the environmental sustainability of our products to ensure we continue to grow in this important space and can support the NHS’ commitment to reduce its carbon impact; achieving its ambition of having ‘net zero’ emissions by 2040 and which is set out in its report ‘Delivering a Net Zero National Health Service’.
Under the Propel@YH Net Zero accelerator, Patients Know Best will be working alongside the AHSN team to bring and measure these benefits closer to home for the AHSN, focusing on quantifying outcomes within in the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership. The PKB platform is already used in Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust, and with planned implementations in renal services across Leeds and Bradford. PKB looks forward to quantifying the carbon reduction and improved patient outcomes associated with these programmes, developing a blueprint for future programmes where these deliverables can be implemented, expanded, measured and quantified.
