The North London Mental Health Partnership (NLMHP) are in contract with Patients Know Best (PKB). This strategic move will enable their entire mental health service user population and all health and care professionals to benefit from the platform.  PKB will provide a consistent service user experience across the Partnership. This will allow a seamless continuation once the integration of the Partnership Trusts is complete and the new, merged Trust is launched later this autumn.

NLMHP plan to leverage PKB’s platform to share important information with service users such as appointments and digital documentation. The programme will also incorporate PKB’s interactive tools such as questionnaires, shared care planning, symptom tracking, a personalised digital library of resources, and device integration.

Through implementing PKB’s patient centric solution, NLMHP aims to:

  • Identify mental health deterioration earlier in service users to prevent the need for inpatient crisis treatment
  • Enable mental health service users to share their medical history in their own words, ensuring that they won’t be required to repeat their mental health history to new professionals or teams treating them
  • Improve patient engagement, satisfaction and empowerment as pertinent information and personalised pre-emptive guidance will be shared
  • Reduce admin burden on professionals as processes can be facilitated digitally, such as assessment questionnaires
  • Make direct cash-releasing savings and reduce DNA rates through sending correspondence digitally

In preparation for this rollout, and to support existing users of the platform, North Central London ICS has already enabled the PKB and NHS App integration for their patient population. This means current and future users can utilise NHS login to register for and access their Personal Health Record within the NHS App. The Partnership also joins other NHS organisations who have contracted with PKB across London such as those in North East London ICS, North West London ICS and South East London ICS.

Sarah Wilkins, Chief Digital Information Officer at North London Mental Health Partnership said “We’re delighted to expand our relationship with PKB across all the mental health services we provide in North London, and see the further benefits this will bring our service users, their carers and families in accessing their information in a more timely, convenient and accessible way.”

Mohammad Al-Ubaydli, CEO and Founder at Patients Know Best said “NLMHP’s digital patient strategy is driven by service user needs and PKB is excited to be part of their journey to facilitate this. We are delighted to expand our programme of work in a mental health setting across North London, providing a truly integrated approach to sharing healthcare data with citizens”
